Minimalism can also be a gratitude practice. Try appreciating everything you have and feel your mood shifting to more joy, more happiness and more energy :)

When people hear „minimalism“, they often associate it with having very little, with cold clean interiors, or with a certain amount of clothes and are put off because they don’t want the restrictions. I totally understand it! However, I think we can all make our own decisions, and we can find our own form of „minimalism“ that works for us.

I’m not sure if there’s a definition on minimalism and if I’m a „true“ minimalist.

My approach to minimalism is basically: Loving everything I own.

Lately, I was discussing with a friend how we feel about THINGS. If we care if they get stolen, break down or lost, or not. I think either ways is okay! :)

I don’t define myself after the brand of my clothes, the amount of money I make or certain celebrities I know. I’ve never been interested in this.

What really matters to me is my connection to myself, to God, to life.

I ask myself: Am I living from the heart?

Living from the heart is my best way of living. When I’m connected to myself, I am compassionate, respectful, clear, productive, supportive.

I noticed that the more I feel connected to myself, the more I feel connected to everything around me. Not just other humans. Also to animals, to plants, and to THINGS.

For me, it is obvious to be caring, mindful and respectful about THINGS in the same way as I’m caring, mindful and respectful about myself. THINGS are not just THINGS, detached from us humans. It was humans who had the idea to create them, it was humans who did the research to find the right resources to produce them, it was humans who built the machines to produce the THINGS.

All the effort, all the energy put into the THINGS deserves respect. No matter if we like that specific thing or not.

And I think, the way we do one thing, we do everything.

Living with an attitude of care and respect includes the way we treat ourselves, others, animals, plants and things.

Everything is Life. Everything is Nature. Everything is the Earth. Everything is actually the BIG BANG.

Think about this. Feel about his. And remember it next time you put on do your laundry, buy a nice cup of coffee or ride your bike.

This is not a call to walk around hyper carefully to not destroy anything. It is a reminder of how blessed we are and that every second of this life can be a reason to be grateful!

I try my best to live from this awareness.

Let’s enjoy this precious life to the fullest, and celebrate every aspect of it! Aho!

Minimalism doesn't have to mean cold & clean, black & white and counting clothes!
